f. 4a: 1103/1691-1692 in f. 4a:Egypt in a wikālat al-sabīl, a lodging (khān) for foreign merchants with a public drinking fountain. In the 8th/14th century it became customary to combine the sabīl with a Koranic school (s. EI2 IV/435-436, VIII/679-680)
