  • a work on hunting birds divided into two books (kitāb or maqāla). The first book, divided into 52 chapters (bāb), deals with the species and characteristics of hunting birds. The second book, consisting of 63 chapters (bāb), deals with the diseases of hunting birds and their cures.
    The present work is probably a copy of the work Ḍawārī al-ṭayr of al-Ghiṭrīf, which is based on the lost text of Adham ibn Muḥriz al-Bāhilī (active in the 8th century). The work rearranged by al-Ghiṭrīf is therefore often referred to as "the Book of Adham and al-Ghiṭrīf".
