According to the colophon al-Maqqarī finished his work in Shawwāl 1030/August-September 1621 in Cairo. Numerous copies from his autograph spread to the Bilād al-Rūm and other countries. After the text has undergone many changes and additions, a revised version was composed in Medina in 1033/1623-1633. This new version served as model text for our MS.
